GusGus was initially formed in 1995 as a film and acting collective and are now one of Iceland’s most well-known electronic bands. Known for their lush production, deep basslines and hypnotic rhythms, they have maintained a strong following for nearly three decades and remain a key player in the Icelandic music scene. The band’s name refers to the 1974 German film Angst isst Seele auf (Ali: Fear Eats the Soul), in which a character cooks couscous for her lover, pronouncing it “gusgus.”
