Björk is perhaps Iceland’s most well-known cultural export; her avant-garde music, fusing electronic, classical, and folk influences rooted in Iceland’s national identity, has shaped the country’s global reputation and inspired generations of future artists. For this piece I created cantographs of six songs (each of which is also included as an individual work in the Söngskissur series) from various stages of her career and used them to pattern the various components of a constructed portrait.
