The Sugarcubes were an alternative rock band from Reykjavík, fronted by Björk and considered to have launched her career before she became a solo artist. Formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1992, their sound mixed art-rock eccentricity with pop sensibilities. Their debut album, Life’s Too Good (1988), was an unexpected international success and is credited as the first Icelandic album to have a worldwide impact. “Blue Eyed Pop” exemplifies their quirky, playful style.
