Bergþóra Einarsdóttir and Guðrún Hulda Pálsdóttir formed the duo Silkikettirnir (“The Silk Cats”) in 2014, mixing Bergþóra’s spoken word and Guðrún’s bass to create a unique soundscape. Their debut album, Smurður Förnir, was released in 2023 and earned two nominations for the Icelandic Music Awards. Silkikettirnir play regularly, most often in homes or hosted poetry evenings, assisted by percussionist Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Karl Pestka on viola.
